The Berber women of Morocco weave these cloths by hand and use them daily as aprons. Short, braided ropes in two corners allow them to be tied around the waist and protect the women's clothes while expressing the local fashion. While the rectangular, striped design is remains constant, each local region tends to use its own color scheme and detail.

This cloth was found in a market in Tangier, Morocco and the style is from the Rif Mountains nearby.

  • These aprons were bought from women who bring their wares from the villages to sell at weekly markets in town. They are handwoven on a small scale and serve as a cottage industry for rural women.
